March 29, 2017 - Wednesday Worship in Lent - Holden Evening Prayer - Luther's Small Catechism on Baptism

On tonight's Lenten journey Holden Evening Prayer was led by Pastor Michelle, Vaune and Annie. Martin Luther's Small Catechism on Holy Baptism was read and Sam added personal reflections to that weekly focus.

1966 South Chins Sea Baptism
 (Not Sam's Baptism)
Sam spoke about his life prior to 1970, before he swam for 5 hours  in the dark to freedom from the communist background he had known until that time, as a sad and empty life before he was physically and spiritually free.

When he was in summer camp in 1975 he experienced a full immersion Baptism in the South China Sea. Not until after he was a Christian did he come to the realization that God had helped, protected and guided him through his dangerous journey to Hong Kong.

With a twinkle in his eye he said "So I was baptized twice in the South China Sea. I hope I don’t have to be baptized any more."

In talking about that full immersion Baptism Sam also joked "I was dunked into the water and dragged out. It does not hurt or kill you. Otherwise I would not be here."

Sam's presence at Creator is such a blessing to us.
